Hello! I am here as a part of :iconprojectcomment:
I am sorry that it took me so long to get to you and I hope I am able to provide you with something that you'll find useful!

First things first... I am not going to repeat what the other commentators have said about the orientation and the thumbnail of your work. I will tell you how to avoid this kind of confusion in the future. It seems that you have uploaded your work as a .pdf file. DA does accept .pdf files, but it doesn't recognise it as a kind of graphic format. So basically... it's a "What-you-see-is-what-you-get" situation. That's why the picture cannot be rescaled and remains on its side. The way to prevent that from happening, of course, is to save it in a graphic format (.jpg, .png, .raw etc). It will save you and your future commentators a lot of trouble! :)

Now, back to the artwork - I like the whimsical take on the character. And I like the little details like the cat-eyes, the cat on the hoodie and the heart-shape in the paw/glove. These little details are what gives a character its own flair and personality. They will eventually help you and your characters to stand out. So definitely keep these little things in mind in the future!

As far as he character goes, here are a few things that may help you in the future:
When you are just starting out, anatomy is going to be the largest hurdle you have to conquer. In fact, a lot of the great artists still deal with problems with anatomy all the time. So when you are sketching, you want to grab a big piece of paper and draw as much of the body as possible. I noticed that you have erased off the character's left hand/paw on your paper. And the crop of the picture makes me think the rest of the character's body and arms simply "went off the paper". This doesn't help you in the long run - because you won't be learning how to join the different body parts together in 3-D space in your head. You want to start in the middle and draw as full of a figure as possible. Looking up references on how to draw the human figure will also help. Right now, your character has a very long neck (it's almost as long as his face). His eyes are set too far apart and his nose bridge is crooked and too thin. His human ears are too high up on his head as well. All of these can be fixed with practice and looking at references. Even the pros will say "learn to draw realistically before trying to draw stylistically." So never be afraid to look up a few anatomy books. They'll help you to get to where you want to be much faster!

I hope this has been helpful! :)
